Check Out Our New Blog Posts!

Once a week we send out the latest blog posts, so you're always up to date with our Woolly News, latest patterns and what we've been up to on the Vlog.

How are you today? I'm busy adding my digital patterns to the online store and our Payhip store, it's actually been fun revisiting some of my older designs and looking at what inspired me, adding more information (based on experience) etc.

As an example one of our crochet patterns, Jacqui's Simple Coasters has always been popular with people who are new to crochet or returning to crochet after a long time. It's super easy and there are two files to download, a smaller file with written instructions and a larger file with a full photo tutorial of every step of the project. When I was looking at some of the finishing projects on Ravelry I found that a few ladies had used linen or hemp yarns to make the coasters into face scrubbies to remove make up or exfoliate the skin. What an awesome idea, so I added it to the pattern notes and hope it will inspire someone else.

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to a little bit of normality as the kids locally go back to school. My son is 20 and an apprentice at the shipyard but I'm his taxi service until he learns to drive. We make it work around meetings (mostly still on Zoom) and other commitments and he has a good set of friends to help out with the occasional lift if I can't take him or collect him.

Are you looking forward to the changes in routine, or would you rather slow things down little?

With the cooler weather, which I'm loving but don't tell anyone, I've had the chance to wear some light weight wool sweaters and also a few of my light weight cowls. My favourite of the moment, because of the rich olive colour, is the Rian Cowl.

I'm swatching at the moment for another cowl design, if you're interested in test knitting for me, let me know by replying to this email, or say hi on social media. I'd love to hear from you.

I find this yarn hard to photograph, it either looks very dark like in the photo of the cowl above, or tones beautifully with my Autumn colours, as seen below.

What have you been watching?

I've been enjoying watching YouTube videos by others who are also following the Slimming World plan. I've lost over two stones (28lbs) so far and have continued to follow (or try) the plan over lockdown. Ending lockdown 1lb lighter than when I started it. I'm callling that a win.
What win's have you had this week? Are there some inspiring or helpful YouTube videos you'd like to recommend? I would love to hear from you. My current favourite for knitting is Heather and Hops.
